LinkedIn has become my go-to platform for staying connected with people. Whether it’s adding individuals I meet at conferences, networking events, group projects, or classes, LinkedIn provides an excellent platform for maintaining my professional network. It’s also a convenient way to connect with industry leaders and stay updated on the latest trends.
The appearance of your LinkedIn profile can make a lasting impression on both your recent connections and recruiters who visit your page. Many LinkedIn profiles tend to have the default background and a profile picture without a border, which can be quite generic.
Let me provide you with a brief tutorial on how to add a personal touch to your profile picture. As an example, I’ll share mine with you.
I utilized Canva to edit both my profile picture and banner. Canva is a user-friendly, free online graphic design software that offers a wide range of tools and features.
Tutorial for Profile Picture:
Step 1: Select a clear picture of yourself, regardless of the background. Ensure that the image is not blurry.
Step 2: Remove the background using remove.bg ( a free website that removes the background from any image)
Step 3: Access Canva and search for the social media template. Opt for the blank template option.
Step 4: Navigate to the “Uploads” section in Canva and upload your newly edited image with the background removed. Next, simply drag and drop your image into the center of the blank template.
Step 5: Click on the “Background” option and choose a background of your preference. At this point, it might appear unusual, but trust the process.
Step 6: Proceed to click on the “Elements” tab, followed by selecting “Shapes.” Locate and choose the thick ring shape from the available options.
Step 7: Adjust the size of the ring to frame your face perfectly. To change its color, click on the colored square located at the top left of the toolbar, and select a vibrant hue that suits your preference.
Step 8: Click on the downward arrow next to the “Publish” button, then choose the “Download” option.
Step 9: Open LinkedIn and navigate to your profile picture settings. Edit your profile picture and adjust the zoom level so that the color of the ring creates a subtle border around your picture.
Congratulations! By following these steps, you should now have a profile picture that resembles something like the example provided. Well done!
